Job Description

OVERVIEW The Shipping Supervisor owns all outbound shipping functions and is fully accountable for execution, accuracy, and on-time performance. This role ensures all shipments-parcel, LTL, and truckload are processed correctly, documented, and shipped on schedule. This position also serves as the single point of ownership for all non-company vehicle shipping issues and is responsible for building the administrative support structure to sustain operation. This role must work together with the Transportation Team to ensure alignment of scheduling, routing, and overall delivery performance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Core Ownership Areas FedEx / Parcel Shipments Full ownership of all FedEx and small parcel orders Ensure same-day processing, accuracy, and proper labeling Customer Opening Orders Oversee all customer opening orders from release through shipment Ensure prioritization and zero service failures LTL Truckload Shipments Coordinate, schedule, and execute all LTL and full truckload shipments Ensure carrier alignment and on-time departures Documentation & System Accuracy Create all Bills of Lading (BOLs) accurately and timely Ensure all orders are invoiced in the system prior to shipment Maintain complete and accurate shipping records Issue of Ownership (Non-Company Vehicles) Own and resolve all shipping-related issues not involving company drivers Includes carrier delays, damages, shortages, missed pickups, and escalations Act as the main communication point between carriers, customers, and internal teams Transportation Team Alignment Work together with the Transportation Team on all outbound activity Align daily on priorities, schedules, and route planning Communicate shipment readiness, delays, and issues in real time Support overall on-time delivery performance and continuous improvement initiatives Leadership & Structure Hire, train, and develop a Shipping Administrative Assistant Build a support structure that ensures: Coverage across all shipping functions Clear ownership of daily tasks No gaps in execution Performance Expectations (KPIs) On-Time Shipping: Target greater than 90% Shipping Accuracy: Zero tolerance for BOL/invoice errors Carrier Issue Resolution: Fast turnaround and minimal repeat issues Operations Efficiency: No shipment delays due to internal breakdowns Cross-Team Alignment: Seamless coordination with Transportation Team MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operation Supervisory or leadership experience required Strong working knowledge of: FedEx / parcel systems LTL and truckload shipping BOL creation and ERP/shipping systems Proven ability to: Own problems through resolution Collaborate cross-functionally (especially with transportation teams) Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Lead and develop team members Work Environment Warehouse and office-based role with daily dock interaction Hands-on leadership required
