Gozzer Ranch is seeking a Club Controller to join the Finance and Accounting Department.

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Gozzer Ranch Golf and Lake Club, located in Harrison, Idaho with an accounting office in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Job Summary:

The Club Controller will direct the financial affairs of the Club and prepare financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Club Controller is responsible for the Club’s financial plans, the accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • With the guidance from ownership, establishes major economic objectives and is responsible for the preparation of all financial reports that outline the Club’s financial position in the area of income, expense, capital expenditures, and earnings based on past, present and future operations and conditions.

  • Maintains the Club’s books and ensures that all company transactions and assets are properly recorded. Is familiar with the principals and applications of generally accepted accounting principles, the Internal Revenue Service and State taxation requirements, and assures recordation of all transactions in compliance thereof.

  • Supports the preparation of the capital budget and planning including; leasing and other forms of financing, reserves and replacements. Determines applicable depreciation and recovery rates to apply to capitalized assets and advises management on such matters.

  • Supports cash management and treasury functions – including cash flow projection and analysis, banking, debt and handling of cash and short-term assets.

  • Oversees the policies and procedures for effective club accounting and control systems including club IT systems.

  • Maintain and enhance financial systems and related improvement including overhaul of current processes, as needed

  • Provide training, guidance, and support of backfilled role and future club controller(s).

  • Maintains and updates billing set up annually in point of sale system.

  • Produces daily revenue reporting for management during season.

  • Bills task force and intercompany labor and charges to other Clubs and internal entities

  • Reviews and helps department heads manage their budgets and spending

  • Produces monthly member statements and oversees membership billing accounts and disputes

  • In partnership with HR and General Manager, manages employee and member experience and resolves staffing, HR and member issues

  • Manages annual compensation and incentive plan

  • Reviews and posts bi-weekly payroll.

  • Approves promotions, increases and job changes in payroll system.

  • Manages AP, AR and Accounting Assistant staff and functions.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bacheleor’s Degree in an accounting or business-related field preferred.

  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of work experience in accounting and financial management.

  • CPA and/or MBA in finance or accounting preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement preparation.

  • Sage Intacct software experience is a preferred.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, preferred. Experience supervising professional and clerical staff.

  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
