UT Monitoring Technician

Job Description

Utility (Monitoring) technician works in routine, following standard procedures under supervision. He/She is responsible for monitoring mechanical facilities and electrical facilities at CCR (Central Control Room), measurement/control system and their parts. His/her main tasks include regular facilities operation monitoring, Alarm/trip monitoring and reporting, root cause study, adjusting set point guided by Engineers. He/she is also required to check the monitoring data/performances of facilities and communicate with Supervisor/Technician to resolve the site trouble when there is any malfunction/damage/alarm/underperformance of facilities.

He/she is also need to report the log data, trend, event records using Central Utility/Power Monitoring system.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Electrical Power Monitoring

  • 25kV SWGR operation, alarm, voltage, current, power monitoring & log
  • 4.16kV SWGR operation, alarm, voltage, current, power monitoring & log
  • Switch gear (Low voltage) operation, alarm, voltage, current, power monitoring & log
  • Mold TR (25kV/4.16kV, 25kV/LV) alarm/temp status check
Utility/HVAC Monitoring
  • HVAC control/operation, temperature, pressure, due point monitoring & log
  • Operation/alarm/Service data for Steam boiler, hot oil heater, NMP, ACT, CESS (Central Electrolytes Supply System), air compressor, chiller & cooling tower, N2, NG.
  • Room temperature & humidity sensor and indicator (HVAC, process)
  • Servicing instrument value/trouble monitoring and log
  • PLC and PLC communication/alarm monitoring & log

Energy monitoring

  • Natural Gas usages with operational boiler units
  • Water/Waste water usages with relevant process/utility operational status
  • Electric usages
  • Find energy savings
Shut down/Trouble/Emergency respond/support
  • Receiving claims, check the operational status/condition
  • Support/communicate supervisor/technicians for field actions
  • Create and update event record & log

Other tasks as necessary to meet the organization’s objectives


Qualifications:

Education: 
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Development)

Experience: 

  • Little to no prior knowledge or experience
  • (Preferred) Telecommunication & Network experiences or understanding
  • (Preferred) HVAC & Utilities, electric system, Automation & PLC experiences or understanding

Language skills: 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization in English

Computer skills: 

  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • In the production site: Must wear the company-provided uniform and PPE including safety shoes, safety helmet (hard hat), safety glasses/safety goggles, portable gas measuring device

  • Risk of electric shock: Electrical substation, distribution board, production facility control panel, socket-outlet, etc.
  • Risk of high temperature: 104~122°F outside the quarter dryer, hot oil boiler (356~392°F)
  • Risk of explosion/noise: Discrete gas explosion in electric room, noise (approx. 65db)

  • Little troubleshooting ability to deal with facility malfunctions
  • Little understanding of measuring tools and methods
