Job Purpose

The role focuses around development of software and systems integration for systems within the Advanced Safety Controls Division. As a member of Advanced Safety Controls Division, your role would support integration of driving assistance and vehicle dynamics control technologies into our vehicles. Our responsibility is to integrate systems into Light Duty Truck (LDT) development vehicles. This integration requires direct coordination with Tier 1 suppliers such as Bosch, Showa, Aumovio, Denso, etc. You would work under the leadership and guidance of senior members in the group to build your knowledge and technical skills with some autonomy as you gain experience.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support with a vehicle development project for system control specifications, maintain schedule and task list including internal, Japan R&D, and supplier (Global and Regional) schedules.
  • Work with Technical Expert and other function PIC to review current electronic controls systems specifications and develop the functional requirements related to Controller Area Network interface, Self-Diagnostic, Failsafe Detection for each vehicle development. Help to maintain the software tools to match with the latest requirements.
  • Learn to validate systems control software function by completing standard requirement testing on bench and in vehicle by proving grounds. Learn to validate electrical hardware by EMC and ultrasonic testing. Work with Technical Expert and other function PIC to countermeasure any issues found.
  • Work with Technical Expert and other function PIC to analyze information, draft engineering specifications and evaluate their effectiveness for the assigned ASC function / feature set to ensure work of the required quality is delivered and approved. Support functional safety verification (i.e. ISO 26262) and ensure requirements are achieved and approved by technical expert. 
  • Support requirements with the autonomous/semi-autonomous control systems teams and coordinate with design functions to ensure correct control specifications are applied to the drawings.
  • Support discussions with factory associates during build phases to ensure controls are achieving required specifications and work with Technical Expert and other function PIC to ensure system software/control issue resolution across Sales, Engineering, and Design.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 0 years, Co-op/Intern experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components, EMC and ultrasonic.
  • Basic understanding of requirements management, function validation, diagnostics, and CAN structures or similar micro controller communication structures.
  • Strong PC Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Project and other technical software).
  • Preferred experience with data acquisition systems such as Vector CAN tools is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Office work environment.
  • Regional and global travel may be required.
  • Commitment to work necessary work hours to achieve all responsibilities, including overtime and operating periodically at early and late day hours.
