Sr Design Engineer (Structural / Bridge)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

• Take full responsibility for bridge and highway design and design review activities for assigned infrastructure and associated marine facilities projects.
• Coordinate closely with design, project management, construction management, QAQC and project control teams to ensure timely delivery of design outputs and alignment with construction sequencing and project schedules. 
• Lead and mentor a team of Design Engineers, providing technical guidance, oversight, and support to ensure high-quality design delivery and adherence to project requirements. 
• Prepare, review, and approve technical correspondence, reports, and letters related to bridge and highway, infrastructure and associated marine facilities design issues, coordinating with project management, construction management, quantity survey and, contract administration. 
• Provide professional and competent structural engineering services for bridges and highway with foundation and/or elevated structures, utilities and other infrastructure and marine facilities. 
• Lead and approve the design of all structural elements for bridges and highway, infrastructure and associated marine facilities, including reinforced concrete (RC), prestressed/post-tensioned concrete, steel, and composite structures, from foundations to superstructure. 
• Ensure all designs comply with the Design Process Plan and relevant codes and standards, including British Standards (BS), ASTM, AASHTO, and Philippine standards for civil, structural, bridge and highway, and marine facilities works. 
• Independently liaise with Clients, Contractors, Design Consultants, utilities undertakers and government authorities during the design process to clarify requirements, resolve technical issues, and ensure project deliverables meet client expectations and project timeline. 
• Review and approve structural and bridge design reports, calculations, drawings, and technical documents, ensuring compliance with project and client requirements. 
• Review and approve design specifications and technical inputs for tender and contract documents related to bridge and highway, infrastructure and associated marine facilities works. 
• Perform design reviews of structural elements for bridges and highway with its elevated structures, infrastructure and associated marine facilities for both local and overseas projects. 
• Provide technical support during tender and proposal stages, including input to methodology, design concepts, risk assessment, and pricing to support successful project pursuits. 
• Support project management team on routine project meetings namely client progress meetings, and contractors/consultants/utility undertakers liaison meetings

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE   

• Bachelor/master’s degree in civil engineering from recognised and reputable university 
• Minimum 5 years of relevant civil engineering experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, including design, analysis, and review of bridge and highway works while any experience in infrastructure works, general civil works or marine structures will be considered an advantage.
• Possess the skill, knowledge and ability to manage and co-ordinate all the design activities 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English 
• Team player and able to multi-task 
• Discipline, self-motivated and resourceful 
• Experience in contract administration will be advantageous
