Job Description

The Role

The Global Protection Pricing function aims to enable the Protection business to write profitable treaties in all our existing territories, along with supporting entry into new territories, key strategic initiatives and driving best practice, efficiency and innovation across our Global teams.

As part of the Global Pricing team, you will work collaboratively with the Pricing teams across all regions to develop our pricing capabilities towards the goals above. In the initial 18 to 24 months, the focus would be on pricing process design as reflected in the responsibilities below. As this progresses it is expected that the responsibilities of this role will evolve, and there is strong desire for the successful candidate to input into shaping this role to add the most value to the business.

Duties

Pricing Process Design

  • Partnering with local pricing teams to develop a roadmap towards streamlined processes/systems focusing on (1) efficiency, (2) proportionality and (3) simplification
  • Driving the delivery of the roadmap, including supporting the development of “minimum viable products” and testing solutions with the local teams
  • Coordinating and collaborating with AST, R&D, SA/MA and other relevant teams on process-related activities
  • Ensuring Protection Pricing teams have tools and processes that are fit for purpose and improvements are realised

Building a Global Pricing community

  • Supporting the development of the Global Pricing Pool
  • Facilitating learning and sharing of information across regions
  • Developing or supporting other Global Pricing team-led initiatives to achieve the desired objectives

Providing quote support on certain Global opportunities

  • Providing technical pricing support on selected opportunities, such as where local resources are insufficient
  • This is expected to be ad-hoc during the initial period

Innovation/Continuous improvement

  • Developing strong relationships with pricing teams across our global offices to understand key business challenges
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and the development of improved practices and approaches, to help architect innovative solutions with local teams e.g. via tools, technology, external data sources etc.
  • Facilitate/drive innovation across Pricing teams, through idea generation sessions and sandboxes to explore new solutions

Qualifications & Expertise

 

Essential

  • Qualified actuary with strong technical ability, and pricing experience preferably across multiple geographical markets
  • Familiarity with the pricing tools that PL Re adopts, such as Tyche, SQL, Tableau, R, and strong Excel/VBA skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with pricing teams across regions
  • Open mindedness and willingness to dive into the details, with the ability to translate insights into actions in terms of the pricing process design while not losing track of context

Desirable

  • Experience in change management and/or process improvement
  • Strong understanding of internal governance frameworks and controls
