Salary: $145,000-$155,000 Annually. Depending on experience and Adjust to local market rates.*
 
POSITION SUMMARY
 
The Director of Executive Affairs serves as a strategic partner to the President & CEO, helping advance organizational priorities through executive support, donor engagement, governmental affairs coordination, strategic initiatives, and executive communications. This highly visible role acts as an extension of the Office of the President and requires exceptional judgment, discretion, professionalism, diplomacy, and relationship management skills.
 
The Director of Executive Affairs works closely with senior leadership, key donors, board members, governmental stakeholders, and external partners to ensure the President’s priorities are effectively coordinated and executed.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
 
Executive Leadership Support
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the President & CEO
  • Act as a spokesperson or delegate for the President in his absence when appropriate
  • Represent the President in meetings, events, and communications as requested
  • Assist in advancing executive priorities and organizational initiatives
  • Prepare executive briefing materials, talking points, correspondence, reports, and presentations
  • Conduct research and provide strategic analysis on key organizational matters.
Donor and External Relations 
  • Assist with management and coordination of the President’s donor portfolio
  • Travel with the President to donor meetings, cultivation events, conferences, and organizational engagements as requested
  • Support donor stewardship activities, follow-up communications, and relationship cultivation efforts
  • Coordinate high-level interactions with major donors, community leaders, foundations, and strategic partners
  • Help ensure continuity and excellence in executive-level donor engagement.
Governmental and Public Affairs 
  • Serve as liaison for Washington, D.C. governmental affairs activities
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and public policy developments relevant to the organization
  • Assist in coordinating meetings and communications with elected officials, governmental agencies, and policy stakeholders
  • Support advocacy and public affairs initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Help cultivate strategic relationships with governmental and civic leaders.
Strategic Planning and Organizational Initiatives 
  • Assist the President & CEO and executive leadership team with strategic planning initiatives
  • Help track organizational goals, executive priorities, and key strategic projects
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives involving multiple departments
  • Participate in organizational planning sessions and implementation activities
  • Support special projects and enterprise-wide initiatives directed by the President.
Communications and Relationship Management 
  • Maintain strong working relationships with board members, senior leadership, donors, governmental contacts, and external stakeholders
  • Exercise diplomacy, confidentiality, and sound judgment in all interactions
  • Draft and manage sensitive executive communications and correspondence
  • Partner closely with the President’s Executive Assistant to ensure seamless executive office operations.
Additional Responsibilities 
  • Attend evening and weekend events as needed
  • Occasional travel as required
  • Perform other duties and special assignments as designated by the President & CEO
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines, deadlines, and design standards
  • Champion the Museum of the Bible’s mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible
  • As required, inclusion in official or incidental photographs and videos for MOTB and/or guests
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible leadership or executive support experience
  • Experience working with executive leadership, boards, donors, international & governmental affairs, or external relations strongly preferred
  • Experience in nonprofit, museum, faith-based, educational, governmental, or mission-driven organizations a plus
  • Fluency in a second language preferred.

  • Able to stoop, stand, climb, and occasionally lift a minimum of 20 lbs. as required
  • Able to flex and pivot across roles, projects, schedules, and events as required to support organizational objectives.
 
 
 
 

Pay Range: $145,000 - $155,000 per year
