Rotational Production Supervisor
Department: Production/Admin, Solutions
Location: Carol Stream, IL
Type: Full-time
 
Summary:
The Rotational Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing operations with continuous improvement initiatives across all shifts. This role ensures that all products are produced, packaged, and labeled according to specifications while maintaining efficiency, safety, and quality standards. The position bridges frontline supervision with operational excellence by applying Lean methodologies, managing KPI’s, and supporting multi-shift operations.  
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Supervise daily production activities to ensure products are produced, packaged, and labeled to specifications according to work order instructions, following all QC and lot control processes.
  • Supervise completion of blending vs. blend sheet and router, sign off on blend sheet
  • Monitor raw material usage, batch execution, and packaging operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with specifications. 
  • Review the sanitation checklist with the production crew and ensure completion.
  • Understand H.A.C.C.P. and maintain procedures and documentation for Quality Systems.
  • Schedule and supervise the execution of required daily cleaning and sanitation, quality, and regulatory processes. Adhere to frequency and methods of cleaning per sanitation SOPs;  maintain proper documentation and use of all chemicals used.
  • Plant safety standards are adhered to, and support efforts to ensure the manufacturing facilities are in environmental and regulatory compliance.
  • The facility is customer site visit clean on short notice at all times, Weekly / As needed.
  • Review the prior week's results and verify inventories are in line with expectations (prior week's expected ending levels).
  • Performance Monitoring: Define, track, and report on KPIs (e.g., efficiency, downtime, cost) and identify actionable insights.
  • Process Standardization: Develop and implement standardized work procedures to ensure consistent business performance.
  • Training & Mentorship: Coach employees and teams on operational excellence tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Change Management: Drive a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability across the department.
  • Daily Performance Review:  Own action item register and assist with populating the Daily Performance Dashboard template with past 24-hour production performance.
  • Visual Management:  Creation of Centerlines for equipment settings for new and existing equipment.  5S implementation and monitoring.  Post 5S audit scores by work area and assign appropriate action items to close gaps. 
  • Workflow Improvements:  Work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, eliminate waste, and deliver measurable results that positively impact the bottom line.
  • CI Culture:  Play a crucial role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, where all team members are empowered to contribute ideas and actively participate in driving organizational excellence. 
  • Populate and review data across three shift operations within the Performance Management System.
  • Coordinate the collection, organization, and communication of daily shift reports to all process owners.
  • Manage and update the PMS settings, tables, rates, and any other changes to ensure system accuracy on a timely basis.
  • Assist with the development of documented SOP’s for PMS users and train all new hires.  Track training completion and compliance.
  • Cover supervisors on PTO across all areas and shifts assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience:
  • Associate degree or equivalent education from a 2 year college or university, Or 4 years of manufacturing experience required
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience leading projects or teams

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint related software
  • Familiarity or general aptitude for ERP systems is required (JDE preferred)
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. 
  • Ability to stand for an extended periods of time
  • Must be able to wear any required PPE such as scrubs, hair net, lab coat, and facemask
  • Ability to work in a packaging area with a moderate powder substance in the air with or without a respirator
  • Ability to work above shoulders
  • Other physical requirements include frequent squatting, bending, twisting, and bi-lateral wrist movement
  • Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas 
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
