Job Description

SUMMARY The eLearning Specialist provides support, expertise, and creativity to support the development and delivery of online and blended courses and programs. The person will work as an online consultant for faculty teaching online courses and programs. The person will play a role in delivering professional development, promoting online learning, assessing online and blended courses, and improving and ensuring the quality of online course development and delivery to improve resulting student success. This position will report to the Instructional Support Manager and has no direct reports. To be successful in this position you will need to have strong communication and problem-solving skills, have previous experience developing and designing online courses, and have outstanding customer service skills. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES · Provide instructional design consultations with faculty, including providing guidance and direction on best options and strategies for course development. · Research various technologies, retain the knowledge learned, create training programs, then provide tutorials on their usage. · Collaborate with Faculty on how to best integrate technology into their courses. This may include creating sample course designs and learning experiences as options for faculty to view. · Provide D2L support as well as other technologies including Respondus Lockdown Browser and Monitor, TurnItIn, Turning Technologies and Zoom. · Work with textbook publishers to gather various supplemental content to integrate into D2L (ex. Test banks, PowerPoints, practice, etc). · Participate in other instructional design initiatives such as assisting in the creation of online courses and in the implementation of open educational resources in support of the use of free e-textbooks. · Direct effective and responsive technical support services for students who are in online courses and programs. · Coordinate and conduct faculty training in online teaching methods and practices. This work includes creating training, public speaking, follow up, and creating course materials such as job aids. · Support faculty who teach at a distance with problem-solving and troubleshooting. · With the assistance of the appropriate department, provide content management for the distance education website. · Performs related work as required.
