Overview
The Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of telecommunications systems across large, multidisciplinary projects. The role involves engineering design, cost estimation, technical evaluation, and field support, covering the full project lifecycle from concept through construction and commissioning.
Your role
- Develop and prepare detailed designs and drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools
- Design telecommunications systems including: Structured cabling, Fiber optics. Telephony systems, Radio communication systems, Public address and access control systems.
- Prepare cost estimates, technical studies, and engineering assessments
- Research and propose technical solutions in compliance with applicable standards (TIA, BICSI, etc.)
- Contribute to the preparation of technical specifications and evaluation of contractor bids
- Review and verify shop drawings for compliance with design requirements
- Update engineering drawings based on approved change requests
- Provide technical support throughout project execution, including handling RFIs, technical submittals, and site instructions
- Participate in inspections, field surveys, and site assessments
- Assist in system testing, commissioning, and performance validation
- Perform measurements using testing and diagnostic equipment
- Prepare technical reports and documentation
- Participate in project meetings and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
- Support project acceptance processes, including punch list validation
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, standards, and quality expectations
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in telecommunications systems design and engineering
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications standards such as TIA and BICSI
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit and BIM tools is an advantage
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience in structured cabling, fiber optics, and communication systems design
- Understanding of construction practices and commissioning processes
- Field experience in inspections, testing, or commissioning is a plus
- Professional certifications (e.g., BICSI, PMP, or equivalent) are an advantage
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
