Our newest opportunity is for a talented Resident Engineer to join our award-winning team based in Riyadh, Saudi. This position is responsible for leading the construction supervision team to ensure that the project will be delivered on time and within budget according to the contract. You will supervise the work of the site engineers, surveyors, inspectors and all other disciplines working on the construction site.


Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to lead the construction supervision and delivery of major civil, infrastructure, and landscape projects in Riyadh. Working on behalf of a leading global construction consultancy, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all site-based activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

 

The Resident Engineer will act as the primary site representative of the Consultant, managing multidisciplinary supervision teams, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and regulatory standards.

We envisage success in this role to include;

  • Key Responsibilities

    Project Leadership & Construction Supervision

    • Serve as the Consultant's lead representative on site for all civil, infrastructure, and landscape construction activities.
    • Oversee and coordinate the supervision team, including civil engineers, inspectors, landscape specialists, and support staff.
    • Ensure construction works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and project schedules.
    • Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and compliance with contractual obligations.
    • Lead site meetings and coordinate activities between contractors, utility providers, authorities, and project stakeholders.
    • Provide technical guidance and timely resolution of site-related issues.

    Civil & Infrastructure Management

    • Supervise the construction of roads, highways, utilities, drainage systems, earthworks, grading, paving, public realm, and associated infrastructure works.
    • Review contractor methodologies, work programmes, temporary works, and construction sequencing.
    • Monitor utility diversions, interfaces, and authority approvals to ensure smooth project delivery.
    • Verify construction progress against approved baseline schedules and milestones.

    Landscape & Public Realm Delivery

    • Oversee landscape installation works, including hardscape, softscape, irrigation systems, street furniture, and public realm elements.
    • Ensure landscape works comply with approved design intent, material specifications, sustainability requirements, and quality standards.
    • Coordinate closely with landscape architects, irrigation specialists, and contractors throughout project execution.
    • Monitor plant establishment, maintenance requirements, and final handover processes.

    Contract Administration

    • Administer construction contracts in accordance with project requirements and applicable contract conditions.
    • Review and make recommendations on contractor submissions, RFIs, technical queries, variation requests, and extension of time claims.
    • Assess progress reports, payment applications, and construction deliverables.
    • Maintain comprehensive records of project correspondence, site instructions, and contractual communications.
    • Support the Project Director and Commercial Team in managing contractual risks and project change.

    Quality Assurance & Control

    • Implement and oversee project quality management procedures.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with approved specifications and standards.
    • Review non-conformance reports and corrective action plans.
    • Ensure testing, commissioning, and handover activities are completed in accordance with project requirements.

    Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

    • Champion a strong safety culture across the project.
    • Monitor contractor compliance with approved HSE plans and local regulations.
    • Participate in site safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
    • Ensure environmental and sustainability requirements are implemented throughout construction.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, government authorities, utility providers, and project stakeholders.
    • Prepare and present progress updates, technical reports, and project performance summaries.
    • Escalate critical risks, delays, and issues to senior management with recommended mitigation measures.
