Job Description
This position is paid at an hourly rate of $18.15 determined based on experience and internal equity.

Montgomery County Public Libraries consists of 22 branches including the Correctional Facility. The system has a total circulation of over 7 million items annually with 554,892 active users. Library customers come to MCPL to find space, entertainment, knowledge, enrichment, and support.

Approximately 500 engaged and passionate staff provide services in 21 library locations and in community engagement using direct outreach and virtual assistance. THIS RECRUITMENT WILL GENERATE A 6-MONTH ELIGIBLE LIST TO FILL CURRENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES FOR THE LIBRARY PAGE POSITIONS AT ALL BRANCH LOCATIONS WITHIN MCPL.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
MCPL takes pride in Library Pages who:
- Maintain high accuracy and speed
- Follow instructions to complete tasks

As a Library Page, you will:
- Return materials to the shelves with accuracy and timeliness
- Check materials on the shelves for accuracy
- Help keep the library neat
- Provide directional assistance to customers or referring them to other team members
Hours for this position are:
- Library hours of operation are 7 days a week including evenings, days, and weekends.
- Employees are expected to be available for work during these times.
- Individual schedules, including evening sand weekends, will vary based on branch operational needs.
- Employees will work on average up to 19 hours per week; hours worked will vary based on operational needs.

Age: 14 years or older
Ability to:
• Sort and file materials alphabetically and numerically in accordance with established production standards.
• Understand and follow instructions.
• Bend and stretch as needed to place books and materials on upper and lower shelves.
• Learn routine processes within a reasonable amount of time
Medical exam protocol: This position requires completion of a pre-employment medical history form to assess your ability to safely perform the essential duties of the role.
Physical Demands: Must have sufficient physical strength to push carts weighing up to 100 lbs. and to load and unload books. Must have the ability to bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, stretch, reach, and other similar activities to place library materials on shelves.

Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated “Qualified,” placed on the Referred List, and may be considered for an interview. Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are the same grade or higher will be placed on the Referred List as a “Transfer” candidate and may be considered for an interview.
