Job Description
WHO WE ARE
The Department of General Services, The Division of Facilities Management (DFM) delivers operational and mission critical services 24 hours a day seven days a week on behalf of County residents and Montgomery County Government. DFM manages over 400 County buildings, ensuring they are maintained at the highest level to provide a comfortable environment for employees and the public.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Department of General Services is currently recruiting fora skilled and qualified Locksmith to maintain and control the keying systems for Montgomery County facilities. This individual will be experienced at installing, repairing, and maintaining all types of residential and commercial locks, including electronic, card key, mechanical locks.
If selected the incumbent must be able to respond to lock related after-hours emergency service calls and severe weather watch/warning emergencies when called.
- Install, repair, and maintain all types of mechanical and electrical door, window, and equipment locks.
- Use lock picking tools and equipment to open all types of mechanical and combination locks including touch key and keypad. Much of the work performed is done during working hours and the incumbent must be competent to perform these duties with minimal interruption to normal business activities.
- Work with consultants, security, builders, contractors or other facilities personnel concerning the proper locks to choose for facilities.
- Install, repair and adjust all types of door panic hardware, door closers, door pivots on aluminum/glass doors and locks in compliance with building and fire codes, ensuring that all locks and panic bars operate properly.
- Manage an extensive key control system which includes indexing and filing grand master, master and control keys for all facility locks.
- Make copies of master keys for authorized personnel and maintain records of keys filed and issued.
- Manage commercial and security locks in all County facilities and buildings including police stations and correctional facilities.
Education: Graduation from high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Physical Ability: Ability to stand for long periods; frequently crouch, bend, or stoop; carry weights of twenty-five (25) – fifty (50) pounds; and occasionally work outdoors in all types of weather.
Special Requirements: Applicant must possess personal integrity as determined by an investigation conducted by the Montgomery County Government and be qualified for bonding.
License: Possession and maintenance at all times of valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant's state of residence.
3 years of experience with commercial and security locks.
