STEM Specialty Camp Counselor

Camp Halfmoon, in Goffstown NH, is seeking Jr. Counselors and Counselors for the summer 2026 season! If you are looking for a fulfilling summer job where you can build your leadership skills, have a meaningful impact on others, and enjoy your summer playing games and having fun with a supportive team – this is the opportunity for YOU!    Our camp, a traditional outdoor summer day camp, serves youth to build relationships, try new things, make memories, and ensure camper safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your tenure at the Y.    Counselors will be assigned to a unit/group of same-age campers that best fits their preferences, experiences and the needs of the camp. They will work with fellow counselors to manage campers, facilitate and participate in camp activities, and build valuable peer-to-peer connections.    Responsibilities:  Plan and lead engaging STEM activities, projects, and challenges for campers Teach age-appropriate concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on learning Facilitate experiments, coding activities, robotics, engineering design challenges, and other STEM-focused experiences Supervise campers and ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive camp environment Prepare, organize, and maintain STEM equipment, materials, and learning spaces Encourage creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among campers Uphold the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Courage      Qualifications:  Experience working or volunteering with youth in a recreation, or similar setting, preferred  Knowledge of STEM subjects and enthusiasm for hands-on learning Must be willing and able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications, or currently hold  Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season  Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work    Position Specifics:  Specialty Camp run 6/29-7/3, 7/20-7/24, and 7/27-7/31 Camp season runs 06/22/26 through 08/27/27 and must be able to work at least 3 additional camp weeks in addition to Specialty Camp weeks listed above Pay range $12.75 - $15.00 hr depending upon experience    Year-round employment opportunities are available with the YMCA. We encourage you to join our dynamic summer team, and support youth in creating a great summer camp experience!
