Camp Halfmoon, in Goffstown NH, is seeking Jr. Counselors and Counselors for the summer 2026 season! Our camp, a traditional outdoor summer day camp, serves youth to build relationships, try new things, make memories, and ensure camper safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your tenure at the Y.
Counselors will be assigned to a unit/group of same-age campers that best fits their preferences, experiences and the needs of the camp. They will work with fellow counselors to manage campers, facilitate and participate in camp activities, and build valuable peer to peer connections.
Responsibilities:
Campaign Facilitation: Plan and run engaging, age-appropriate D&D adventures. Balance combat, exploration, and role-play to keep campers engage
Camper Supervision: Ensure the day-to-day safety and emotional well-being of the campers in your group, just like a traditional camp counselor
Character & Skill Building: Guide participants through character creation, backstory writing, and leveling up
Conflict Resolution: Help campers navigate group dynamics, collaborate effectively, and handle disagreements gracefully
Teaching Newcomers: Adjust game rules and pacing to accommodate beginners, ensuring everyone gets a chance to shine
Uphold the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Courage
Qualifications:
Experience working or volunteering with youth in a recreation, or similar setting, preferred
Strong working knowledge of Dungeons & Dragons, game mechanics, and lore. Dungeon Master (DM) experience is highly preferred.
Must be willing and able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications, or currently hold
Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season
Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work
Position Specifics:
Dungeons and Dragons Specialty Camp runs Monday-Friday 08/03/26 through 08/14/26 and must be available for duration of camp
Camp season runs 06/22/26 through 08/27/26 and must be able to work at least 3 of the camp weeks outside of specialty camp
Pay range $12.75 - $15.00 hr depending upon experience
