Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $67,627 to $107, 323, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.  

WHO WE ARE

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is made up of approximately 1,300 sworn officers and approximately 900 support personnel. The Police Department was established in 1922, and today is responsible for providing service to a County with a population of over one million people.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking to fill the Client Assistant Specialist position. This position will provide a full range of support services, either direct or through appropriate referrals to crime victims of all crimes.

  • · Provide direct outreach and information, offer support, and make referrals to appropriate service providers for crime victims and witnesses.

  • · Serve as liaison between crime victims and the police, facilitating communications and easing demands on sworn officers by handling routine inquiries and requests.

  • · Coordinate safety planning and connect victims with local, state, or national programs that can assist with their emotional and financial needs.

  • · Provide victims with an overview of the criminal justice system and their rights, and facilitate referrals to the appropriate agency for further victim assistance.

  • · Coordinate other services that may assist victim.

  • · Participate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team while safeguarding sensitive information and upholding strict confidentiality standards

  • · Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging victim-service resources and changes in county and state laws relevant to victim rights and services

  • · Assist with crime prevention education and outreach.

Experience: One (1) years of experience in an applicable human service setting which involved direct, substantive client contact and service delivery.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

1. Experience conducting needs and safety assessments and providing support services to victims of crime, including domestic violence.

2. Experience in providing crisis intervention.

3. Experience working within the criminal justice system and utilizing county and community referral resources.

4. Experience in maintaining statistics and writing reports.

5. Second language.
