Job Description

2 Positions Available 

General Duties and Responsibilities:     

  • Provide behavior/SEL/mental health support to all students 
  • Complete student risk assessments 
  • Maintain required records 
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed 
  • Provide/connect students/families with appropriate support services 
  • Connect students/families with appropriate outside support agencies 
  • Consult with teachers/administrators/counselors to support student behavioral/SEL/mental health needs  
  • Punctual, regular and consistent attendance is required 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in Social Work? 
  • Must hold (or qualify for) a valid State of Michigan license?(LMSW, LLMSW, SSW, and/or LPC) 
  • Embodies high ethical standards and integrity.  Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct 
  • Ability to comply with drug-free workplace rules and board policies 
  • Ability to establish working relationships with co-workers and function as part of a cohesive team 
  • Ability to utilize appropriate technology as directed.  Commitment to keep current with workplace innovations that enhance personal productivity 
  • Ability to facilitate student/family access to appropriate community resources. 
  • Knowledge of best practices in school climate and SEL Strategies (PBIS, MTSS, SEL Standards, Restorative Practices, Tier II Interventions, etc.) 
  • Ability to evaluate students as part of a team to determine eligibility for Special Education programs/services 
  • Ability to assist in the development, implementation and progress monitoring of Functional Behavior Assessments/Behavior Intervention Plans 
  • Punctual, regular & consistent attendance is required. 
  • Meets all mandated health screening requirements following a conditional offer of employment 
  • A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Approval as a School Social Worker- temporary or full  
  • Possess training and/or experience in behavioral management techniques (CPI trained) 
  • Knowledge of MTSS and participation in the process 

FLSA Status:  Exempt
