Situated in West Devon, Taw Valley Creamery produces award winning, high quality cheeses including Tickler, BOB, Cheddar and Red Leicester for our retail and food service customers. The Creamery has received a £180 million investment to become a state of the art cheese production site, across Cheddar & Mozzarella categories - one of the largest single UK investments for Arla Foods.
About the job
As a key member of the Taw Valley QEHS Laboratory team you will be assisting with the efficient running of the laboratory ensuring that our products and material meet the high safety and quality levels expected.
Some key responsibilities
- Conduct tests to analyse products and materials.
- Interpret results of analyses and escalate non-conformance issues as required.
- Communicate and report results to relevant departments.
- Accurate data entry of results and sample details.
- Ensure correct use of defined company standards and procedures.
- Ensure instrumentation and equipment is functioning and calibrated.
- Ensure calibrated and verified methods are used.
- Management of laboratory material stocks and ordering.
- Liaise with external contract laboratories and service providers.
- Maintain laboratory safety and 5S levels.
What will you need to be successful in the role
The successful candidate will ideally have vocational / technical education and have experience in laboratory practice or worked in a similar role. They are a strong communicator with an understanding of food safety principle and practices. You will be a team player with an exceptional attention to detail and be IT literate (including the use of Microsoft Office and SAP).
We are looking for positive team member who is confident, trustworthy and can help to continue to drive our laboratory standards to the next level.
Applicants must be physically fit as a large part of the day required spending time at the bench conducting analysis and in the factory collecting samples.
