JOB TITLE: Class A CDL Driver – Over-the-Road (OTR)
DIVISION: Transportation
LOCATION: Poseyville, IN
REPORTS TO: Transportation Manger, Kane Schmitt
What You Will Do:
As a Class A CDL Driver at Nix Industrial, you'll play an important role in keeping our operations moving. You'll safely transport steel, fabricated components, and equipment to Nix facilities, project sites, and customer locations throughout the United States while representing our company in a professional manner. This position offers independence on the road, modern equipment, dedicated freight, and the opportunity to be part of a growing, fifth-generation family-owned company with over 120 years of history.

What You Will Do:
As a Class A CDL Driver at Nix Industrial, you'll play an important role in keeping our operations moving. You'll safely transport steel, fabricated components, and equipment to Nix facilities, project sites, and customer locations throughout the United States while representing our company in a professional manner. How You Will Do It:
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles and flatbed trailers.
- Secure loads in accordance with DOT regulations and company standards.
- Transport steel, fabricated components, and equipment to customer locations and project sites across the country.
- Plan and follow efficient delivery routes.
- Maintain accurate logs and transportation records.
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and fellow team members.
- Maintain cleanliness and care of assigned equipment.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with additional transportation-related responsibilities as needed.
The Position Requires:
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Valid DOT Medical Card.
- Minimum age of 21.
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Clean driving record with no DUI or reckless driving convictions within the past three years.
- Previous Class A commercial driving experience preferred.
- Flatbed experience preferred.
- Experience with load securement practices.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Commitment to safety, professionalism, and reliability.
- Willingness to travel overnight and spend extended periods on the road.
Schedule & Travel:
This is an over-the-road position requiring frequent overnight and multi-day travel throughout the United States. Drivers participate in our Flexible Home Time Program, with schedules varying based on customer deliveries and project demands.
