We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to fill an 18-month maternity leave contract on our Technology team. Our technology group is a 26-person software development team that builds leading-edge solutions for both our clients and Eckler’s other practices. These solutions range from web-based financial modelling tools to large, complex data administration systems.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and passionate about delivering technology projects with excellence. You will work closely with a team of Business Analysts, Developers, QA professionals, and subject matter experts in a supportive environment that encourages continuous learning and improvement.

Eckler’s technology team is based in Toronto, Halifax and Vancouver, with project teams located across Canada.

This posting is for an existing vacancy that we are actively seeking to fill.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Project Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of software and technology projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including milestones, resource allocation, and risk registers
  • Facilitate project meetings, including kick-offs, status updates, retrospectives, and steering committee presentations
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate project risks and issues to keep delivery on track
  • Produce clear and concise project status reports for internal leadership and external clients

Stakeholder and Client Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects, managing relationships and expectations with professionalism
  • Translate client business needs and constraints into actionable project plans and deliverables
  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams including Business Analysts, Developers, QA, and external vendors to align on priorities and timelines
  • Begin to develop awareness of business development opportunities within existing client engagements

Team Leadership

  • Support and mentor junior team members, providing guidance on project management practices and professional development
  • Act as a team advocate by coordinating training, facilitating feedback loops, and supporting client interaction opportunities for team members
  • Coordinate and lead lunch-and-learn sessions and other knowledge sharing opportunities 

Process and Tooling

  • Manage project workflows using software tools including Jira and Confluence, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting
  • Drive adoption of Agile methodologies and best practices across assigned projects
  • Identify and implement AI workflow improvements and automation opportunities at the project level, working within approved frameworks
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes, templates, and tools

Budget Management

  • Set and manage client and project budgets, tracking actuals against forecasts throughout the engagement
  • Apply strong communication and project management skills to keep projects on track financially and flag variances early

What you offer:

  • 5+ years of experience in project management, preferably in a technology or consulting environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong understanding of project management and Agile methodology fundamentals
  • Expertise with software project management tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting to clients and senior leadership
  • Experience managing project budgets
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Working towards or holding a project management designation (PMP, ACP, Scrum Master, or equivalent)
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of project outcomes

Assets:

  • Experience in the employee benefits or financial services industry, particularly pensions
  • Actuarial knowledge, by education or experience
  • Experience with AI tools and automation in a project delivery context
