
Plumber II - Jail Maintenance (Sheriff)
Job Description
Position Summary
Works under limited direction to be responsible for installation and maintenance of plumbing systems.
Pay Grade: 51H
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
- Two (2) years of plumbing experience after acquiring Journeyman license.
- High school or possess a GED.
- PROOF OF EDUCATION; TRAINING; AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage
- systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings using hand tools and
- power tools.
- Cuts and threads pipes using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe threading machine.
- Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of various metals and non-metals.
- Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing, mending, and opening systems as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
KSAs
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of
- plumbing tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of metal and non-metal piping and their properties.
- Manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of measurements.
- Ability to interpret building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
Physical Requirements
- Must pass a physical examination.
Special Requirements
- Must pass a criminal history background check.
- Must be able to work in a jail environment.
