Job Description
Responsibilities
- Conduct R&D work on waterborne polymers and coatings, including laboratory experiments and IP reviews.
- Perform laboratory‑scale polymerisation (emulsion and solution) for waterborne acrylic and selected solvent‑borne systems.
- Carry out formulation, mixing, and application testing for paints, inks, construction chemicals, and adhesives.
- Characterise polymers using standard analytical techniques (e.g. particle size, molecular weight, MFFT).
- Evaluate end‑use performance of polymers and coatings, including physical, chemical, and cost considerations.
- Support R&D projects as a project leader or team member, contributing to stage‑gate progression.
- Analyse, document, and present experimental data and technical findings.
- Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Services (GLP), safety procedures, and 5S laboratory standards.
Required skills and experience
- Basic training and experience in laboratory chemical synthesis and chemical analysis.
- Strong chemical background, preferably in polymers, coatings, or related fields.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in English to discuss and understand technical content, formulations, and technology packages.
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques used in polymer and materials research is an advantage.
- Research‑oriented mindset with strong analytical and experimental thinking skills.
- Physically fit, with the ability to lift up to 10 kg.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related field (required), with academic laboratory training or equivalent hands‑on lab experience.
