AD Data Collection System Function Owner

China is the biggest passenger car market for Mercedes-Benz. In Mercedes-Benz R&D China, we strive to provide China-fit ADAS/AD products through advanced technologies to our Chinese customers. We are currently looking for talent who share the same passion and enthusiasm for developing a China-fit ADAS/AD E2E data collection system.

We are seeking a highly qualified AD Data Collection Function Owner to take the lead in defining, developing, and optimizing the on-board data collection functions for our autonomous driving (AD) system. You will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of China-specific AD Data Collection products, including data triggering & filtering strategy, on-board data collection software specification, E2E data pipeline from vehicle to cloud, and compliance fulfillment. This role requires strong product awareness and the ability to leverage AI technologies to deliver intelligent data collection solutions, improve data close loop, and work efficiency. You will closely collaborate with cross-functional teams such as AD system function team, algorithm team, big data analysis team, and testing team to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and compliance of data collection functions that support the safe and efficient development of our autonomous driving solutions.

Education

Bachelor degree or above in field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in autonomous driving (AD) industry with at least 3+ years of proven experience in data collection product design and development.

• Proven experience with multiple use cases of applying AI/ML technologies in data collection or data-related products.

• Experience with ADAS/AD system, domain controller, AUTOSAR AP/ROS/Apollo CyberRT and data collection E2E workflow.

• Experience in cooperation with multi-partners for ADAS/AD on-board SW deployment and function delivery.

       Specific knowledge

• Deep understanding of AD data collection concepts as well as big data solutions in ADAS/AD domain in the industry, including the objective, benefit, frontend/backend resources usage, and the basic mechanism.
• Strong understanding of autonomous driving technologies and the data collection requirements in this field.
• Familiar with on-board data collection architecture, triggering & filtering mechanisms, and E2E data pipelines from vehicle to cloud.
• Knowledge of data protection laws, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements (local or international).
• Experience applying AI/ML technologies (e.g., LLM, predictive analytics) to improve data collection efficiency and quality.
• Strong product mindset — ability to define product roadmap, prioritize features based on business value, and drive products from concept to delivery.
• Proficient in understanding embedded SW architecture, data management tools, data transfer protocols, etc.
• Proficient in at least one programming language (C++ preferred) to communicate effectively with development teams.
• Familiar with getting technical (CPU loading, Bandwidth, RAM, NVM)/compliance boundary (judgement of personal information, sensitive areas or potential map & surveying related activities).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive complex technical projects from concept to implementation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams.
• Self-motivated, result oriented.
• Fluent English language skills.
• Willingness to travel inside China and abroad.
