Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Charter Oak Health Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled part-time Pediatric Dentist to join our dental team. The Pediatric Dentist will provide high-quality, comprehensive oral health care to infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special needs in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting. The ideal candidate is dedicated to serving diverse and underserved communities with cultural sensitivity and clinical excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care to pediatric patients (infants through adolescence).
• Perform comprehensive oral examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planning for pediatric patients.
• Administer local anesthesia as needed; refer for general anesthesia when clinically indicated.
• Provide patient and parent/guardian education on oral hygiene, diet, and preventive care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams including primary care providers, behavioral health, and care coordinators.
• Document all clinical encounters accurately and in a timely manner using the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, peer review, and staff meetings as required.
• Comply with all OSHA, HIPAA, and FQHC regulatory requirements.
• Supervise and mentor dental assistants and support staff as appropriate.
• Maintain professional development and continuing education requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school.
• Completion of an accredited Pediatric Dentistry residency program (board eligible or board certified preferred).
• Valid Connecticut dental license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• Current DEA registration and CPR/BLS certification.
• Experience working with underserved, diverse, or high-need pediatric populations preferred.
• Proficiency with electronic health records; experience with Dentrix or similar systems a plus.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Part-time schedule; days and hours to be determined based on departmental needs.
• Clinical dental office environment; exposure to standard dental materials and equipment.
