
RN - PER DIEM
Job Description
A per diem nurse provides comprehensive primary and preventative care, including patient's assessment, administering treatments, medications, educating patients, managing chronic and acute conditions. Per diem nurse coordinate care with providers, manage patient flow, perform triage, and document health records, acting as a crucial link between patients and medical staff in a fast - paced environment. Positions are "as needed", often to fill out gaps for absent staff or high patient census with flexible scheduling often involving off hours and weekends without being offered regular scheduled hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Care & Assessment: Evaluate patient vital signs, medical history, and symptoms. Perform procedures such as wound care, injections, vaccinations, others as required by the provider.
- Patient Triage & Care Coordination: Manage clinical phone lines, triage acute patient walk-ins, and ensure efficient workflow. Implement care plans as directed.
- Education & Support: Educate patients and families on disease management, wellness, and post-treatment care instructions.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely Electronic Health Records in ECW and adhere to confidentiality and safety standards.
- Provider Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and staff to deliver holistic and comprehensive care to patients.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
- Capacity for lifting or assisting patients.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced clinic or community health center setting.
- Requires multitasking, including handling clinical tasks, phone triage, and in-person patient care
Certifications/Skills requirement:
- Licensure: Valid State RN or LPN License.
- Certification: current BSL/CPR Certification.
- Experience: 1 year minimum in a healthcare setting with experience in a community health center setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, electronic medical record (EMR) experience, and cultural competence
- Communication: Ability to speak and write English. Bi-lingual (Spanish) speaking preferred.
- Documentation: Proficiency in EMR systems and other software program including Microsoft Outlook
