RMIT Vietnam is seeking a contingent worker for the Library Assistant role. While the position is advertised by RMIT Vietnam, the successful candidate will be employed and managed by an external service provider, who will be responsible for the labour contract.

POSITION SUMMARY
Library Assistant is primarily responsible for providing focused library services inside the library to RMIT Vietnam students and staff at the front desk, monitoring library use, facilities, and equipment to ensure a healthy & safe environment for student. Library Assistant also contributes to the building and maintaining library collections as well as the development of information services across the Library.
Report to: Deputy Senior Librarian for Library Operations & User Services
Indirectly reports to: Librarians
Key Accountabilities
- Providing all library services during evenings, weekends and public holidays as required; Library services include borrowing and returning; service desk administrative tasks; shelving; linking students to learning resources; and ensuring user satisfaction with all library services & resources.
- Monitoring library spaces, noise levels, furniture, and equipment to ensure a healthy & safe environment for all users.
- Maintaining library’s physical collection along with keeping up with current and new digital collections to facilitate University learning, teaching and research; suggesting library resources in varied formats, including print and e-books along with multimedia resources; reviewing the physical condition of the collection.
- Developing positive working relationships among the entire RMIT community; actively marketing and promoting new services and resources; understanding the needs of the students and staff of the RMIT Vietnam community and helping tailor library services to those needs.
- Assume administrative duties involving operational activities such as cataloguing, way finding, record keeping, and overall support the entire Library Team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Selection Criteria
- Displayed knowledge of trends and best practices in customer service with an ability to support students and staff in higher education.
- Demonstrated the ability to be an active member in collaborative work teams, both locally and internationally; and able to work independently as needed.
- Well-honed interpersonal skills including: soft negotiation, cooperation, subtle persuasion, and cross-cultural communication in multi-cultural higher education environment.
- Proven organization, planning, prioritization and time management skills.
- Highly self-motivated individual with a demonstrated commitment and passion towards continuous improvement and learning.
- Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position, as per the RMIT Behavioural Capability Framework (Connectedness, Commitment to Excellence – Improve and Simplify; Imagination and Innovation; Impact; Inclusion; Agility)
