Job Description

Make your mark as the storyteller who helps bring NZI’s voice to life. In this role, your writing will shape how our people and brokers understand what matters most — from key business updates to thought provoking insights that position NZI as a trusted partner in the market. You’ll work closely with our Principal, Broker & Internal Communications and a supportive marketing team to uncover stories, translate complex information with clarity, and create content that sparks connection and confidence. This is a 12-months fixed term role based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).
Ngā Mahi Hei Whakatutuki Māu | What You'll Do
Craft clear, compelling communication across email, presentations, newsletters and campaigns that keeps our people and brokers informed, engaged and confident.
Lead broker and internal communication activity, using storytelling to bring NZI’s messages to life and strengthen our presence in the intermediated market.
Turn complex or technical topics into simple, relatable and actionable messages tailored to the needs of different audiences.
Work closely with senior leaders and subject matter experts to prepare messaging, narratives, talking points and communication packs.
Collaborate with wider marketing, events and sponsorship team to amplify stories consistently across NZI’s channels and activities.
Use feedback and insights to refine communication approaches and improve clarity, reach and impact.

Exceptional writing skill — this is the core of the role. You create clear, engaging content that brings ideas to life.
Experience in communications or related fields, with a proven ability to simplify complex information into plain language.
Confidence working with leaders and subject matter experts to shape messages, ask great questions and find strong angles.
Strength in planning and prioritising, delivering high quality work across multiple channels in a fast moving environment.
Curiosity, initiative and a knack for spotting stories and opportunities across the business.
A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.
Experience in insurance or financial services is useful, but not essential — strong writing is what matters most.
