As an Operational Risk Consultant, you’ll partner closely with our Distribution business, helping leaders and teams identify risks early, respond effectively when things don’t go to plan, and continually improve how the business operates.

This is an internally focused opportunity, ideal for someone who enjoys working alongside the business, influencing outcomes, and turning risk insights into practical improvements. You’ll play a key role in strengthening risk maturity, supporting confident decision‑making, and helping the business operate safely and sustainably in a complex environment.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney), Naarm (Melbourne) or Meanjin (Brisbane).

What You'll Do

• Partner with Distribution leaders and managers to support effective operational risk management across frontline and sales environments.

• Identify, assess, and triage operational risks and incidents, supporting clear ownership and timely resolution when issues arise.

• Review and test controls to identify gaps, uplift control effectiveness, and strengthen risk maturity across the business.

• Support risk profiling, control self‑assessments, and risk reviews aligned to the IAG Risk Management Framework.

• Provide clear risk insights and reporting to help improve business operations, performance, and decision‑making.

• Coach and guide stakeholders on risk practices, fostering a proactive and practical risk culture.

What You'll Bring

• Solid experience in operational risk, compliance, assurance, or a related risk consulting role.

• Experience working in financial services or large, complex organisations with regulated environments.

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to partner, influence, and communicate risk clearly.

• Experience identifying risks, assessing control effectiveness, and supporting risk and assurance activities.

• Analytical mindset with the ability to translate risk insights into practical business improvements.

• Internal candidates with strong Distribution, sales, or operational experience and a keen interest in risk are encouraged to apply.
