Mechanical Engineer Intern

Position Summary
Digital Dynamics Inc. (DDI) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our engineering team in Scotts Valley, CA. This internship offers hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers on the design, development, testing, and improvement of advanced mechanical systems and components used in high-performance applications.
The ideal candidate is eager to learn, passionate about engineering innovation, and excited to contribute in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This role provides valuable exposure to product development, prototyping, CAD modeling, testing, and cross-functional engineering collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems, assemblies, and components
- Create, modify, and maintain 3D models, drawings, and documentation using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Support prototype builds, testing activities, and engineering evaluations
- Conduct research, calculations, and analysis to support engineering design decisions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Systems Engineering
- Participate in design reviews and problem-solving discussions
- Document design changes, test results, and project progress clearly and accurately
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within engineering and manufacturing processes

Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and design principles
- Experience with CAD software; SolidWorks experience preferred
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Hands-on project, lab, robotics, Formula SAE, or internship experience is a plus
