
Technical Specialist, Reinsurance Underwriting

In this role you will contribute to the optimal execution of Group’s reinsurance strategy, for long tail and specialty portfolios, ensuring they are commercially effective, operationally robust, and compliant with internal governance and regulatory requirements, while supporting business partner objectives.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in Gadigal Country (Sydney).
What You'll Do
- Support the end-to-end treaty placement process, including renewal planning, stakeholder coordination, data preparation and implementation activities.
- Coordinate renewals across portfolios including Casualty, Cyber, Professional Indemnity, Directors & Officers and Agency portfolios.
- Operate as the team data specialist to support renewals, monitoring and reporting requirements.
- Engage actively with internal and external stakeholders to support reinsurance outcomes.
- Support compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct Cyber exposure modelling to assist in monitoring group accumulations.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and support automation initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of emerging risk and regulatory developments.
What you’ll bring
- Minimum of 5 years experience in insurance or reinsurance, ideally with exposure to casualty, financial lines or specialty portfolios
- Working knowledge of reinsurance principles, or experience supporting reinsurance placements or similar technical insurance processes
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across underwriting, claims, finance and risk functions
- Sound analytical and problem-solving capability, including the ability to interpret data, identify insights and support decision-making
- Experience working with (re)insurance systems and reporting processes, with the ability to manage and reconcile data across multiple sources
- Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documentation, accuracy and risk management
- Understanding of governance, compliance and regulatory requirements within an insurance environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
