At Durham University we are proud of our people. A globally outstanding centre of educational excellence, a collegiate community of extraordinary people, and a unique and historical setting – Durham is a university like no other. We believe that inspiring our people to do outstanding things at Durham enables Durham people to do outstanding things professionally and personally.
Across the University we have a vast variety of roles and career opportunities, which together make us a large and successful community, that is a key hub of activity within our region and nationally. We would be thrilled if you would consider joining our thriving University.
Further information about the University can be found here.
This role is open to current Durham University students only.
Candidate Requirement: We are seeking to recruit mentors for our Asian Access summer residential, which is for Year 12 students from Asian heritage backgrounds, as they are particularly underrepresented in Durham. Many students invited to take part on Asian Access will intersect with other underrepresented backgrounds at Durham, such as being from low participation neighbourhoods or being socio-economically disadvantaged. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from members of groups who are under-represented in the University, including students who are of Asian heritage and students studying a degree course for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Hours: Our Asian Access Summer School will be running from Monday 17 - Wednesday 19 August 2026 with on campus mentor training taking place on Sunday 16 August 2026. Event hours are from 7am until 12am, mentors will be required to cover the entire duration, a break rota will be in place.
Availability during the week of residential delivery is essential.
The residential week includes accommodation at a Durham University College and all meals provided throughout this week.
