Job Description

M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s WestK, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century. 

You will be responsible for: 

  • Leading the development and evolution of formal and informal learning programmes, supporting a wide spectrum of audiences—from school groups and tertiary learners to professionals and lifelong learners;

  • Leading the design, development, and implementation of a new professional development programme in collaboration with curatorial, learning and other stakeholders to integrate content expertise with contemporary learning theories;

  • Overseeing the management of online content and course offerings such as online talks and resources that complement M+ exhibitions and collections aimed at increasing revenue streams while advancing the museum's educational mission;

  • Fostering meaningful partnerships with academic and cultural institutions at local, regional, and international levels;

  • Working with other M+ teams to and identify and manage programming intersections including across the learning and curatorial teams;

  • Managing and developing staff supporting and implementing the programmes;

  • Evaluating programme effectiveness, audience engagement, and learning outcomes, ensuring continuous improvement and organizational accountability; and

  • Performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by M+.

You should: 

  • possess a recognised university degree, preferably in museum education, fine arts, design, architecture, moving images, creative media, cultural management or equivalent; 
  • have at least 10 years of professional experience in programme planning and development, project management of art and cultural events or festivals;
  • have proven experience of creating and implementing strategic audience development related to the public in with a particular focus on adult audiences
  • have strong research skills with demonstrated commitment to learning, and maintain up-to-date knowledge with the literature and practices of learning and engagement programming issues in contemporary museums;
  • be a diplomatic and collaborative team player with proven leadership and facilitation skills; and
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills in preferably in English and Chinese.
