Job Description
Mission: Under the responsibility of the mining geologist, the Pit Master plays a key role in controlling the grade within the mining project. They assist the mining geologist and the ore observer in supervising the extraction works, managing the ore deposits, and executing the plant feed plan. Here are your main tasks: Assist in controlling sampling during grade control drilling to delimit and separate ore from waste in the pit; Contribute to the demarcation of ore and control of extraction processes to limit contamination and ore loss; Ensure the accuracy of the field reports provided by the various production teams; Support the mining geologist in managing drilling programs, ensuring the application of QAQC procedures, and ensuring the optimal dispatch of samples to the laboratory; Participate in programming and installing devices to control ore movement during blasts; Collaborate with the plant supervisor to manage and mix ore during the plant feeding process to achieve the mine’s operational goals; Report to the senior mining geologist any ore mixing or loss situation in the pit attributable to contractor operations; Supervise, mentor, and ensure continuous training of ore observers; Ensure compliance with safety regulations on-site and promote a safety culture in all pit activities; Work to establish a safety culture in pit operations; Participate in training new technicians and ore observers, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's performance; Provide support in hydrogeology and geotechnics as needed for the site; Work responsibly to contribute to the achievement of the company’s environmental objectives.
