The Parks Grounds Maintenance Worker position is a job where you’ll be working outdoors, helping to maintain parks, trails, sports fields, playgrounds, landscaping at City buildings, and downtown public spaces. You’ll learn green industry standards, landscaping techniques, turf care and irrigation practices while performing a variety of duties including edging, raking, cleaning debris, weeding, and plant-bed care which are practical and in demand career skills. Essential Duties: -Assists in maintenance of City parks, playgrounds, trails, sports fields, city building landscape, and downtown public spaces. -Once trained, will operate a variety of equipment (both gas powered and electric) including small utility carts, hand tools, and power tools including weed whips, mowers, blowers, edgers, etc. -Clean and remove trash from all areas of the park including shelters and restroom facilities. -Assist with horticulture maintenance (shrub beds, flower beds, specialty gardens). -Assist with irrigation maintenance and repairs. -Assist with snow removal and special events. -Work successfully in a team environment, as well as autonomously, in all weather conditions. -Interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner. -Engage with team members in a considerate and helpful manner and project a positive attitude in the workplace. -Assist with additional tasks to help other Park divisions including Cemetery or Forestry if needed. -All other duties as assigned.
