We are seeking a Global Commodity Leader – Should Costing with deep expertise in direct material cost structures, China supplier ecosystems, and the power industry to strengthen our cost competitiveness and local sourcing strategy in China.
This role is a subject‑matter leader responsible for building fact‑based cost transparency, benchmarking our current cost position against the China market, and identifying qualified, reliable local Chinese suppliers that meet global quality, reliability, and compliance standards.
Acting as a critical bridge between global sourcing standards and local China market realities, you will provide should‑cost leadership, supplier intelligence, and negotiation insights to enable smarter sourcing decisions, stronger supplier partnerships, and sustainable cost advantages. This position is based in Shanghai and reports to the Senior Global Commodity Manager.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • China Supplier Sourcing & Localization Leadership
    • Identify, evaluate, audit, and qualify new suppliers cross China for key parts and commodities.
    • Build and maintain a strong supplier pipeline to support localization and growth strategies.
  • Cost Engineering & Should-Cost Leadership
    • Independently conduct should-cost modeling, cost-breakdown analysis, and value-engineering reviews to identify cost drivers and savings levers.
    • Lead cross-functional cost-reduction initiatives and deliver measurable financial impact.
  • Supplier Management & Performance
    • Manage ongoing supplier relationships, including QBRs and improvement initiatives.
    • Monitor supplier KPIs and drive corrective actions for quality or delivery issues.
  • Market Intelligence & China Market Expertise
    • Deeply track China material pricing, regulatory changes, and supply chain risks.
    • Leverage strong understanding of China’s supplier ecosystems, industrial clusters, and cost structures to inform sourcing decisions
  • Risk Management & Compliance
    • Identify and mitigate supply risks such as shortages, volatility, and regulatory impacts.
    • Ensure full compliance with company policies, Chinese regulations, and ethical sourcing standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related fields.
  • 7+ years of sourcing/procurement experience in manufacturing with proven should-cost / cost engineering track record
  • Strong experience in China domestic sourcing and familiarity with local supplier ecosystems
  • Proven negotiation skills with measurable achievements in cost reduction.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience in cost breakdown and data‑driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication skills in Chinese and English.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
