Checks, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems for conformance to specifications and performs repair, removal, and reinstallation of wiring as necessary.
Attaches wire or complicated electrical systems to fixtures and accessories such as: transformers, instrument panels, and switchboards with fasteners (bolts, screws, or solder).
Locate and correct electrical problems, including component installation and replacement
Ensure that the wiring meets all building codes and standards for safety
Understand and employ electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and wiring diagrams
Test newly installed electrical components to ensure proper function
Test wiring and other electrical components to make sure it’s properly connected
Performing semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment
Troubleshoot equipment electrical systems and control circuits and build control panels from drawings
Prepare sketches and schematic diagrams showing the location of wiring and electrical systems
