Contract: Full-time, permanent
We are looking for a Mobile Welder. To effectively and competently carry out all aspects of welding repairs to machinery to the highest standards. To ensure we deliver a first class service to both internal & external customers. To actively seek revenue opportunities and discuss these with customers and your Line Manager.
What you'll be doing:
To carry out welding repairs on Volvo construction equipment or miscellaneous equipment as required by line management, maintaining safe working practices throughout.
To carry out all work in line with quotations and time guides, highlighting to management where additional work may be required, upon strip-down of components.
To carry out duties in a commercially focussed way, seeking additional service revenue opportunities and promoting our aftermarket solutions.
Maintain a sufficient personal toolkit to enable you to carry out the job effectively.
In regards to company tooling (including but not limited to laptops, electronic timesheet, specialist tooling and lifting equipment), ensure defects are reported, use is in line with current test periods and in line with instructions/training.
Complete Personal Digital Assistant inputs in ‘real time’ providing comprehensive details of the work undertaken.
To order parts for your work as necessary and to return parts in a clean condition and at the time of job completion, to aid the efficient invoicing.
Liaise with the Service Supervisor to assist in planning work schedule for any welding, fabrication, modifications, campaigns or retail work.
To ensure a smart and professional appearance, wearing appropriate work wear and Personal Protective Equipment, and to ensure housekeeping in your work area is of a high standard.
To assist and coach colleagues with work related support where necessary.
Flexibility to work overtime as and when necessary.
To attend any relevant training courses, staying away from home where required, to ensure a high standard of competence required to efficiently complete duties.
When applicable, ensure the Volvo premises are locked and secure on exiting the building, in line with key holding responsibilities.
Work in accordance with SMT GB standards of health, safety, quality and environmental care.
Work in accordance with the SMT GB Commercial Vehicle Policy.
Any other duties that may be reasonably requested by your manager.
What you'll need:
A formal Welding qualification
Relevant experience in welding and fabrication, ideally within the industry Be a good team worker.
Ability to communicate efficiently with colleagues, management and customers.
Work with a cost conscious mindset to ensure maximum profitability.
Problem solving ability.
IT Literacy – basic computer skills including ability to use email.
High standards and attention to detail.
Conscientious in all aspects of the job.
Highly responsible, reliable, honest and trustworthy.
Ability to understand technical literature/systems.
