Student Technician

Service Technicians-Student tech learns hands-on how to perform basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural, commercial and turf equipment. Requires assistance and guidance from the Service Manager or senior technicians. May be required to mow, sweep, carry out trash and clean in shop/yard areas. Must be enrolled in and attend technical training school.

Essential Functions

The following are essential functions of this position:

• Assist other technicians in making the following repairs: Diagnoses, rebuilds and repairs agricultural and/or turf equipment. Including small engines and power equipment/tools.
• Participates in training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
• Gains and maintains knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
• Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment.
• Maintains a clean work area and performs work in neat and orderly fashion.
• Follows all safety rules and regulations in conjunction with work assignments
• Accounts for all time on time card.
• Maintenance duties that include cleaning in show room/shop/yard, mowing, sweeping etc.

Required Education, Skills and Experience

• Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
• Ability to conduct basic computer functions.
• Ability to operate vehicles and equipment.
• Fork lift license preferred.
• High School Diploma is expected.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 lbs

Eligibility Requirements

• Technicians must provide their own tools that will be necessary to complete assigned jobs.
