Maintenance Manager – Plant Operations Department

Location: Uvalde Memorial Hospital
Job Type: Full-Time | Exempt

Lead the Systems That Power Patient Care

Behind every great hospital is a facility that runs flawlessly — and behind that facility is a strong Maintenance Manager.

At Uvalde Memorial Hospital, we’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead Plant Operations and ensure our hospital remains safe, compliant, and operating at its best 24/7. This is a high-impact leadership role where your expertise directly supports patient safety, staff efficiency, and the health of our entire community.

If you thrive in complex environments, enjoy leading skilled teams, and take pride in well-run systems, this role offers the stability, authority, and respect your experience deserves.

What You’ll Lead & Own

  • Full oversight of hospital buildings, infrastructure, and critical systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical)

  • Preventive and corrective maintenance programs that keep operations running smoothly

  • Regulatory compliance with NFPA, CMS, OSHA, and Joint Commission standards

  • Leadership, coaching, and development of a skilled Plant Operations team

  • Vendor and contractor management for specialized services and capital projects

  • Performance tracking through KPIs, work order metrics, and preventive maintenance compliance

  • Collaboration with hospital leadership to align facility priorities with patient care needs

This role is both strategic and hands-on — ideal for a leader who wants visibility, influence, and accountability.

What We’re Looking For

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)

  • 5+ years of healthcare or hospital facilities experience, including supervisory responsibility

  • Strong working knowledge of life safety systems, building infrastructure, and regulatory standards

  • Experience using CMMS systems and Excel-based reporting

  • A calm, organized, solutions-driven leader who communicates clearly and leads by example

Why This Role (and UMH) Stand Out

Mission-Driven Work – Your work directly supports patient safety and quality care
Leadership Visibility – Be a key operational leader with real decision-making authority
Stability – A full-time, exempt role in an essential hospital department
Community Impact – Serve a hospital that is deeply rooted in and committed to its community

Benefits That Work as Hard as You Do

  • Incentive: $10,000 sign-on bonus

  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance

  • Employer-paid Life & AD&D Insurance

  • Flexible Spending Accounts (Health & Dependent Care)

  • 24/7 Virtual Care & Healthcare Advocacy Services

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

  • Additional voluntary benefits for accident and critical illness coverage

  • Retirement planning and federal/state benefits navigation support
