Job Description
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas teaching certificate or
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or
- 15+ college credit hours (minimum requirement)
- General Substitute Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Performs regular teacher’s class plan while the teacher is absent, including but not limited to the following:
- Reports to principal or campus secretary upon arrival at the school
- Communicates, collaborates and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors and students
- Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned
- Assumes the responsibilities for instructing classes when the teacher is absent
- Assumes other responsibilities for that teacher during the time the teacher is absent
- Assumes responsibilities for supervising student behavior in class, during lunch and other activities
- Follows all District and individual school policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching dictates
- Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
- Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
