Job Description
The North Plainfield School District, a culturally rich and diverse school community in Somerset County serving approximately 3,700 students from Pre-K through grade 12, is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and forward-thinking professional for the position of College and Career School Counselor at North Plainfield High School.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of students by helping them discover their strengths, explore future pathways, and confidently prepare for life after graduation. The successful candidate will play a key role in building a strong culture of college and career readiness through innovative programming, meaningful student relationships, and data-informed support systems.
We are also seeking an innovator who is excited to help guide the creation of a new College and Career Readiness Center through upcoming referendum construction. This individual will have the unique opportunity to help shape the vision, programming, and student experiences within a dedicated space designed to prepare students for success beyond high school.

Qualifications Include:
- Valid New Jersey School Counselor Certification
- Strong knowledge of college admissions processes, career pathways, and post-secondary planning
- Experience with college and career readiness platforms (e.g., Naviance, College Board, FAFSA processes)
- Ability to analyze and utilize student data to guide programming and support student outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement events such as college fairs, workshops, and career exploration activities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with students, families, staff, and community partners
- Commitment to equity and ensuring access to post-secondary opportunities for all students
- Growth mindset�willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and collaborate with colleagues
Salary: $69,630 (minimum) to $103,470 (maximum) commensurate with experience, pending negotiated agreement
