ARD Facilitator
Job Description
Primary Purpose:
The Special Education ARD Facilitator is to maintain compliance in ARD Committee meetings.
Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Teaching Certificate in Generic Special Education or Special Education area of assignment
Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of the fingerprinting check/background check
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community
Be familiar with the Level System of discipline
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form
Ability to carry out duties according to all district requirements/policies, Board of Education policies and federal guidelines
Ability to respond to common inquiries from parents, staff, community, or regulatory agencies
Experience:
Minimum two years teaching experience in district
Knowledge of special education instructional leadership
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve in an instructional capacity to students identified as needing special education services.
- Keep campus administration informed and current on assessment decisions for students.
- Meet with campus LPAC representative to determine instructional programming and assessment for bilingual/special education students.
- Order campus supplies for special education teachers.
- Assist with/serve as a resource for Pre-ARD staffing.
- Monitor the timelines/paperwork for all ARDs.
- Send ARD notices/monitor parent receipt.
- Act as a resource for compliance in ARD committee meetings (e.g. annuals, failures and reviews).
- Record ARD proceedings according to guidelines.
- Complete all other ARD data/forms.
- Notify non-attending parent of ARD proceedings, send copy, get signature(s).
- Place all ARD forms in the student eligibility folders.
- Monitor current ARD committee recommendations to ensure follow-through.
- Coordinate procedure for monitoring special education students progress.
- Update class list sheets on a monthly basis and submit to the SEMS data clerk for input into system.
- Establish/implement confidentiality procedures.
- Track all special education removals/withdrawals from campus.
- Bring placement concerns to the attention of the supervisor.
- Arrange for departmental meetings for disseminating and collecting special education information.
- Work as a team with the supervisor to assist with the collection of departmental data as required for special education reports.
- Conduct transition ARDs.
- Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolong periods of sitting, walking, standing, bending, and stooping
Motion: Long periods of arm, hand, and finger movement
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Occasional district-wide travel
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, effective management
and public relation skills, and ability to maintain emotional control under stress
