Costing Accountant

Family-owned and operated telecommunications company seeking a Costing Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing, tracking, and managing project costs related to broadband and telecommunications infrastructure deployments. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate cost allocation, supporting pricing and bidding strategies, and providing financial insights that drive operational efficiency and profitability. Familiarity with RUS and ARPA-funded projects is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain cost accounting systems, documentation, and financial records for telecommunications projects
• Analyze project costs, including labor, materials, contractor expenses, and overhead allocations
• Develop standard costs and perform variance analysis between actual and budgeted project costs
• Monitor inventory valuation and ensure accurate cost allocation for telecom infrastructure assets
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for broadband and network deployment projects
• Provide detailed cost data to support pricing strategies, grant-funded project reporting, and bid submissions
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements
• Reconcile cost accounts with the general ledger and ensure financial accuracy
• Generate detailed cost and financial reports for management review
• Collaborate with project managers, engineering, procurement, and finance teams
• Support compliance reporting for federally funded projects, including RUS and ARPA initiatives

Required Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of experience in cost accounting, project accounting, or financial analysis
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing, job costing, and variance analysis
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, financial modeling, and data analysis
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Working Conditions
