THE POSITION:

The Vice President, Electric Utilities will lead STACK’s enterprise-wide transmission strategy, guiding the integration of transmission solutions to enable STACK’s large-scale data center developments across the Americas. This role oversees a growing Electric Utility team within STACK Energy and partners with Development, Policy, Design & Engineering, Preconstruction, and Utilities to ensure reliable, cost-effective power delivery.

This leader will establish STACK as an industry innovator in working with utilities, RTO/ISOs, and regulators to address transmission challenges, develop creative solutions, and secure the infrastructure required to support hyperscale growth. The VP, Transmission will manage budgets, direct consultants, oversee external stakeholder engagement, and report regularly to senior executives and the Board on transmission risks, opportunities, and capital planning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead STACK’s Electric Utility strategy across the Americas, ensuring reliable, cost-effective interconnection and long-term power delivery for all projects.

  • Oversee and direct consultant analyses including power flow modeling, production cost modeling, interconnection studies, and transmission solution assessments.

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of utility and RTO/ISO planning practices, including cost allocation, recovery principles, and load interconnection processes.

  • Build and manage executive-level relationships with utilities, regulators, and RTO/ISOs, serving as STACK’s primary external voice on transmission issues.

  • Identify and champion innovative transmission solutions, including partnerships, investments, and regulatory reforms that advance STACK’s project pipeline.

  • Collaborate with STACK Energy, Policy, and Development teams to influence external processes (planning reforms, interconnection queue management, and permitting pathways).

  • Provide executive oversight of budgets and consultant activities, ensuring resources are deployed effectively to support business objectives.

  • Partner with internal teams (Preconstruction, Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, Legal, and Tax) to evaluate and support business cases requiring transmission solutions.

  • Present transmission strategies, risks, and opportunities to STACK’s senior leadership and Board of Directors.

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Transmission team capable of supporting STACK’s rapid growth.

  • Location: Remote

  • Travel: ~30% domestic

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred; Master’s degree or MBA a plus

  • Minimum 15+ years’ experience in utilities, strategy, or related fields, with leadership experience managing multi-region portfolios

  • Strong expertise in power flow modeling, utilities, and generator/load interconnection processes

  • Proven success working with utilities, RTO/ISOs, and regulators on transmission and interconnection challenges

  • Executive-level financial and strategic acumen, with demonstrated responsibility for large budgets and Board-level reporting

  • Excellent leadership skills with ability to build and scale high-performing teams

  • Strong communicator who can translate complex technical issues for non-technical stakeholders and executives

Compensation Range:

$216,000.00 - $249,000.00
