Meet people where they are. Help them get where they deserve to be. Join U.S.VETS and support veterans experiencing homelessness by connecting them to housing, services, and hope.

Are you someone who builds trust easily, communicates well, and isn’t afraid to step outside of an office to meet people in the community? Do you thrive in work that is fast-paced, people-centered, and mission-driven?

U.S.VETS—the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to preventing and ending veteran homelessness—is seeking an Outreach Specialist to join our Las Vegas team and help connect veterans to critical housing and support services.

This role is ideal for someone who is organized, compassionate, and comfortable working directly in the community with veterans experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

The Opportunity

As an Outreach Specialist, you will provide direct outreach services to veterans in shelters, treatment programs, transitional housing programs, and other community locations. You will help veterans connect to housing programs, supportive services, and resources that support long-term stability and independence.

This role combines outreach, relationship-building, coordination, and administrative follow-through to ensure veterans are connected to the care and services they need.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct Community Outreach: Visit shelters, treatment facilities, soup kitchens, and community locations to connect with veterans
  • Build Relationships: Establish rapport with veterans and community partners to encourage engagement in services
  • Coordinate Referrals: Schedule screenings, transportation, and referrals for veterans entering programs
  • Track Client Information: Maintain databases and documentation related to outreach activities and referrals
  • Support Program Events: Assist with transportation and coordination for outreach activities and special events
  • Collaborate with Providers: Work with external agencies and partners to collect required documentation and coordinate services
  • Produce Reports: Maintain outreach logs and weekly reports of veterans engaged by the outreach team
  • Participate in Team Meetings: Attend outreach meetings and collaborate with staff across programs

What Makes You a Strong Fit

  • You are comfortable engaging with people from all walks of life
  • You communicate professionally and respectfully
  • You are organized and able to manage multiple tasks
  • You can work independently while staying connected to the team
  • You are adaptable and able to navigate changing situations in the field

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in social services required
(Employment at U.S.VETS for at least 3 months may substitute for experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field preferred
  • Experience working with veterans and/or individuals experiencing homelessness preferred
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and data systems
  • Valid driver’s license required; must meet company insurance requirements and complete driver training
