The Supervisor, Power Plant, Facility Operations will be a leader and member of the Facility Operations Team. The incumbent is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the Power Plant in compliance with the Safety and pressure vessels Act as outlined by the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Affairs, the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000 and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Expert knowledge of mechanical and electrical requirements for Power Plant, HVAC, building automation systems and other hospital systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects within budget and timelines delivering quality outcomes
- Responsible for ensuring that the Southlake Power Plant is following the Operating Engineers Regulations
- Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of the Power Plant
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Power Plant
- Maintain discipline among the persons employed in the plant who are under his or her control or supervision.
- Authorize, approve and be responsible for all maintenance, repairs or work performed within the plant or in connection with associated equipment
- Ensure that an accurate record of matters that may affect the safe management, operation and maintenance of the plant is made and maintained at all time
- Ensure compliance with the Hospital’s Fire Maintenance system
- Respond to fire alarms and trouble signals, providing an excellent working knowledge of fire protection systems
- Prepares reports and maintains records detaining information about the property, infractions observed and actions to be taken
- Ensure all policies & procedures of Southlake Health are being adhered to and ensure the maintenance of records as required by law.
- Facilitate continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate changes in the delivery of Maintenance Services, which are recommended by any new accreditation standards.
- Utilize the procurement system to generate purchase orders and authorization of payments to contractors and vendors.
- Ensure the provision of continuous services to the Hospital to include HVAC, water systems, electrical services, fire alarm and firefighting systems, and auxiliary systems including the pneumatic tube system, paging system, etc.
- Responsible for managing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure accurate asset data, effective work order processing, and reliable reporting to support facility operations and compliance.
- Lead and manage preventive maintenance activities, including scheduling, coordination, execution, and performance monitoring, to support safe, reliable, and compliant facility operations.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Licensed 3rd Class Stationery Engineer.
- 2 years or more experience as the Lead Licensed 3rd class Engineer in a health care environment.
- As defined by the TSSA 2000 regulation 219/01, be a “chief operating engineer” who always has charge and responsibility for the safe management, operation and maintenance of the Power Plant
- Trade school diploma in a related field
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years as a management co-ordinator in a health care field
- Demonstrated ability in interpersonal, communication, diplomacy, coaching, facilitation and team building skills.
- Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, specifications and equipment manuals of those types associated with mechanical, electrical, air conditioning, and control diagrams normally found in a modern hospital complex.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of hospital information systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software application to Power Plant.

- Demonstrated leadership & decision-making skills, knowledge of computers to include Demonstrated computerized Maintenance Management System, Word Processing, Internet, Excel, etc.
- Leadership courses considered an asset
