Job Summary
The Communications Technician I is responsible for professionally handling incoming calls, monitoring security systems, dispatching personnel, and supporting emergency response operations. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and courteous in high‑pressure situations.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age; High school diploma or GED preferred; Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written communications; Ability to multitask; Basic computer skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Process all calls professionally and direct transfers appropriately; Dispatch security personnel as requested; Notify on‑call personnel as required and document notifications; Monitor CCTV cameras and distribute information appropriately; Demonstrate compassion, courtesy, and professionalism at all times; Actively listen and respond to customer concerns; Assist customers by answering questions or locating information; Maintain familiarity with emergency codes including Code Red, Code Black, Code Pink, Code Blue, and Missing Persons; Monitor emergency situations and update administration; Follow proper protocols related to CCTV monitoring; Focus on duties based on station assignment; Ensure overhead paging is clear and discernable; Use a pleasant and professional tone of voice.
