Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining general ledger integrity, and assisting with month-end close processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries by reviewing financial activity and translating business transactions into accurate general ledger records
Review of general ledger transactions for accuracy
Conduct account reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, general ledger and intercompany accounts to achieve financial accuracy
Reconciliation of detailed benefits invoices
Analysis of 401k records to ensure compliance with the plan
Formatting of financial reports for review by senior management
Account analysis and review of results to identify variances or unusual trends
Analyze financial transactions, investigate discrepancies, and apply appropriate accounting treatment
Support budgeting activities, analysis of budget to actual results
Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient data flow and resolve discrepancies
Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.
Support audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Prepare and file periodic sales tax and other taxes required timely in each state.
Perform additional tasks and support as needed
WhatYou Will Bring:
CPA Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
2-4 years of hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation
Knowledge of month-end close procedures and financial reporting practices
Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, multi-task environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially when handling numerical data.
Thorough understanding of general ledger, accounting principles and financial terminology
High level of numerical accuracy with the ability to perform calculations and work with financial data
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and vendors
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with Microsoft Teams for communication
Preferred Skills:
Experience with WinTeam, Concur, SalesForce/Certinia and Asana is a plus, but not required.
