Department of Special Education and Counselling

Faculty of Education and Human Development

 

The Department is now seeking qualified and highly dedicated colleagues for teaching appointments at the rank of Lecturer I (Fractional) in the following areas:

 

a) Counselling
b) Mental Health
c) Talent Development and Gifted Education
d) Speech Therapy / Speech‑Language Pathology
e) Special and Inclusive Education

 

The appointees will undertake teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, support curriculum and programme development, provide practicum or field experience coordination and student supervision in teaching practice and counselling, and work collaboratively with schools, professionals, and other stakeholders in supporting children and learners with diverse needs.

 

Applicants should demonstrate proven professional experience in schools, NGOs, and/or teaching experience in tertiary education. Significant contributions to professional development and/or education programmes, including practicum coordination, will be an advantage. Candidates should be fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin Chinese, and have an understanding of the educational context of Hong Kong and/or Mainland China. The ability to teach through more than one medium of instruction (English/ Cantonese/ Mandarin Chinese) would be an advantage.

 

Applicants should hold a Doctoral degree (EdD or PhD) with substantial post‑qualification teaching experience in a tertiary education setting, and preferably possess a relevant professional teaching qualification, such as a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognised by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong, or an equivalent qualification.
