Centre for Language in Education
The Centre for Language in Education provides English enhancement programmes and services for students in the EdUHK. The appointee will be responsible for teaching English enhancement courses (with English as the medium of instruction); providing a range of language support services (e.g. one-to-one staff–student consultations); administering courses and assessments; and contributing to the development of teaching and learning materials. The appointee will also be expected to coordinate an English language enhancement blended programme.
Applicants should have a Doctoral degree in English language/English language education/teaching English as a second/foreign language, with substantial post-qualification teaching experience. They should preferably possess a relevant professional teaching certificate, e.g. PGDE or qualification of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognized by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong or other qualification of equivalence, and provide proven evidence of quality teaching and/or successful record of relevant professional experience. Experience in teaching tertiary students English for Academic Purposes (EAP), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), and/or workplace English is essential. Expertise in second language education with emerging technologies, content and language integrated learning (CLIL), English-medium instruction (EMI), discourse analysis, academic literacies or/and critical literacies is highly preferable.
